Hi! I’m Kristie Messerli, Dietitian and Diabetes Educator, here to help you start living a life full of your favorite foods.

I know that feeling in the pit of your stomach; that one where the thin sheen of sweat starts to bead on your brow because you know bad news is coming. You brace yourself for the news…then in the blink of an eye, you’re sent on your way with an outdated pamphlet on diabetes management only to make it home and realize your head is spinning.

When you were first diagnosed with diabetes, your mind was probably racing a million miles a minute. Once the dust settles, it’s so easy to place blame on yourself or wonder what you could’ve done differently to avoid the diagnosis altogether.

“It’s my fault I have diabetes. The doctor warned me.”

“If only I tried harder to lose weight before this got out of control.”

“I’m afraid I’ll have to give up my favorite foods and I just can’t do that.”

I’ve heard it all before. It’s easy to feel lost when you’re adjusting your lifestyle to live with diabetes. But I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to diet your way to health.

You deserve better.

After spending the last decade working with people experiencing the different stages of diabetes, I’ve learned that a one-size-fits-all approach is not going to cut it. I’m passionate about helping my clients develop a personalized plan that fits in with their life. That means enjoying all of the big family holidays, happy hours with friends, and slow brunch on Sunday mornings without agonizing over the menu for hours before even stepping out the door.

I’m here to be a partner in your path to your healthiest life yet. Let’s do it together.

It’s time to ditch the radical ideas and extreme diets to manage your blood sugar.

Food has the power to heal and improve symptoms of diseases that you’re living with. I’ve seen this power firsthand with a family member who suffered from epilepsy. After meeting with a dietitian and watching their health transform before my very eyes, I knew that I wanted to become a dietitian so I could help people to feel their best, too.

That power doesn’t come from dieting or eliminating entire food groups, though. It comes from creating a plan that fits your lifestyle, instead of fitting your lifestyle around a plan that doesn’t work for you.

Diabetes is not your fault. It is manageable when you have the right support system and education in place. Most importantly, it is not a death sentence. Managing blood sugars, carbohydrates and eating healthy foods can all coexist together without sacrificing a single thing.

Together, we’ll focus on the whole picture. Lifestyle factors like sleep, stress, water intake, and daily movement all factor into a personalized plan that’ll fit into your life. Aren’t you ready to start living your life again?
